Trump Mocks Haley Spouse’s Military Deployment

Feb 11, 2024

During an extended rant on Nikki Haley in South Carolina this weekend, Trump mocked her spouse’s military deployment and implied his absence was because “he knew” she’d lose the primary. Haley’s husband, Michael Haley, is a commissioned officer in the South Carolina Army National Guard who was deployed last year as a staff officer with the 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.

Trump has a long history of attacking members of the military. Last month, he mocked the late John McCain’s injury sustained as a prisoner of war.

“Trump doesn’t care about anyone but himself, even if you’re a member of the armed services he provides lip-service to at his rallies. His attacks on Michael Haley and the late Senator John McCain are shameful and highlight how little he thinks of members of the military who don’t blindly pledge their loyalty to him. Americans deserve a commander-in-chief who respects service members and their families. Trump cannot be in charge of our armed services ever again,” said American Bridge 21st Century Presidential Campaigns Communications Director, Brandon Weathersby.
