Who is...

The Real Robinson

Mark Robinson is North Carolina’s GOP gubernatorial nominee, and has made a name for himself by his desire to ban abortion with zero exceptions, his demonization of the LGBTQ+ community, his attacks on the education system, and his Christian Nationalist rhetoric.

ABORTION

Robinson is an anti-abortion rights extremist who has made clear that, if given the chance, he would pass a total abortion ban in North Carolina that makes zero exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother. His policies could even threaten access to IVF in North Carolina.

“If I had all the power right now, say I was the governor and had a willing legislature, we could pass a bill right now that says you can’t get an abortion in North Carolina for any reason.” [WNCT, 3/1/23]

Mark Robinson: “Abortion Is Murder. I Must Say This To You. Abortion Is Murder.” [Berean Baptist Church, 1/11/2020]

LGBTQ+

“Filth” — that is how Mark Robinson has described the LGBTQ+ community, and has used Christianity to justify his hatred of LGTBQ+ Americans.

“There’s no reason anybody anywhere in America should be coming in and talk about transgenderism, homosexuality, any of that filth.”  [Ashbury Baptist Church, 6/8/21]

EDUCATION

From complaining about the Ten Commandments being taken out of the classroom to discouraging secondary education, Mark Robinson’s stance on education is completely…uneducated.

“Absolutely essential to school choice, charter schools, all that good stuff.” [Mackey’s Gun Shop, 01/29/20]

CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM

Mark Robinson is a Christian Nationalist who has all but said there is no room in America for other religions, and that there should be no divide between church and state. Despite, you know — the Constitution.

“People talk about the separation of church and state. The separation of church and state. I’m trying to find that phrase somewhere in our Constitution. I’m trying to find it in our Declaration of Independence. I’m trying to find it in the writings of any patriot anywhere. And I cannot. And I cannot because it does not exist. You see, there is no separation of church and state.” [Bold and Courageous Robbinsville, 10/19/2023]
