With One Month Till Election Day, Rubio Backs Bill To Hike Prescription Drug Prices

Oct 07, 2022

Today, U.S. Senator from Florida Marco Rubio co-sponsored a bill to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act’s drug provisions. These provisions allow Medicare to negotiate the prices of prescription drugs — delivering badly needed relief to seniors and those suffering from skyrocketing prices.

In August, Rubio made it clear that reducing health care costs for the people of Florida was not one of his priorities by voting against the Inflation Reduction Act. Now, it seems that he will take any measure to protect his Big Pharma backers as he looks toward 2024.

American Bridge spokesperson Drew Godinich released the following statement:

“With a month to go before Election Day, and with tens of thousands of Americans already voting, Republicans are making their closing argument: a federal abortion ban, cuts to Social Security and Medicaid, and, incredibly, higher prescription drug prices. The choice in this election couldn’t be clearer.”
