Where Does Kevin Smith Stand On His Friend Rudy Giuliani?

Jul 11, 2022

Kevin Smith has been silent about his political ally Rudy making national headlines

New Hampshire GOP Senate candidate Kevin Smith has been a long time fan of conspiracy theorist and disgraced Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani. Smith volunteered and fundraised for Giuliani’s bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2007 and 2008. The bromance continued in 2012 when Smith ran for NH governor and Giuliani threw his political weight behind him. Smith even hired former Giuliani staffers. Despite being a fixture in Kevin Smith’s political orbit, Giuliani has been conspicuously absent from Smith’s 2022 campaign.

“In light of the recent January 6th hearings, Kevin Smith’s silence on Rudy Giuliani is deafening. Smith spent the better part of a decade touting his close relationship with national pariah Rudy Giuliani,” said Grace Hagerty, spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century. “With Giuliani continuing to make national news for his criminal behavior, Granite Staters deserve to know where their friendship stands.”

According to a report from the Union Leader published on 6/21/12: “‘I have a sense of loyalty to Kevin because he supported me,’ said Giuliani, who expects to return to the state to fundraise and campaign for Smith. Giuliani’s most active supporter in New Hampshire, former NHGOP Chairman Wayne Semprini, endorsed Smith two weeks ago. Giuliani’s former communications consultant in the state, Alicia Preston, joined Smith’s campaign last week.”

Recently, Kevin Smith’s friend Rudy Giuliani has once again made national headlines. He was subpoenaed by congress for his role in the Capitol insurrection. Giuliani has already testified before the House committee investigating the Capitol attack. Giuliani was also subpoenaed by a Georgia grand jury investigating criminal interference in the 2020 election. Thanks to his false claims around the 2020 election, he has been suspended from practicing law in Washington, D.C. and New York.
