Trump’s Economic Failures Driving Up Costs for American Families as Inflation Rises 2.7% in June

Jul 16, 2025

New data released today shows that inflation jumped 2.7% in June, the latest sign that Donald Trump’s economic agenda is hitting working families hard. Experts forecast Trump’s tariffs will cost Americans $2,800 this year alone.

Trump’s tariffs have made everyday life more expensiveincluding childhood, and put opportunities for the future more out of reach.

Everything is more expensive in the Trump economy. Gasoline prices rose last month. Appliances rose for the third straight month in June. Toy prices increased by 1.3% last month, marking the second consecutive month of increases. Clothing and footwear costs climbed up nearly 2% from January. Grocery prices are rising too, with tomato prices set to explode by as much as 10%.

Families are being squeezed, futures are being dimmed, and Republicans in Congress are standing on the sidelines, cheering on Trump’s destructive policies and ignoring the families who are paying the price.

“Trump promised to fight for working people, but he’s been stabbing them in the back since his first day back in office. He’s more concerned with protecting the rich and powerful than the Americans who trusted him to make their lives better and more affordable,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Americans are paying for tariffs at levels not seen since the Great Depression, they’re seeing the price of everything rise, and soon, thanks to Trump’s spending priorities, they’ll see their health care costs rise too, and price them out of critical care. Donald Trump and the Republican Party betrayed Americans, and rising prices are just the start of the damage they’ve caused.”
