Doug Mastriano, the Republican nominee who lost Pennsylvania’s 2022 gubernatorial race by a wide margin, has read the tea leaves and is bailing on his much-anticipated run. What changed?
Just earlier this year, Mastriano railed against the PA GOP Party for their “stupid strategy” of supporting Stacy Garrity, claiming that Republicans would “lose the general election” with Garrity on the ticket. Now he’s leaving the GOP ticket open to a candidate who just this weekend called Pennsylvania “mediocre.”
“What voters are learning now is that Republicans like Stacy Garrity don’t think much of Pennsylvania,” said Tiffiany Vaughn, a spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century. “Whether it’s repeatedly calling the state mediocre or pushing dangerous, divisive agendas, the GOP ticket is a recipe for disaster.”
Garrity’s record includes:
- Garrity supports job-killing, price-hiking Trump tariffs that are putting the economy and jobs at risk — while raising prices for working families.
- Garrity supports Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which puts Pennsylvania’s rural hospitals at risk and throws families off the health insurance they need to survive.
- Garrity wholeheartedly supports Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court repealing Roe v. Wade — taking away the rights of Pennsylvania women.
- Garrity backed up Trump in his constant, debunked election lies, trying to overturn the will of Pennsylvania voters, as late as 2022. She was even caught on camera spouting election conspiracies at a GOP rally, telling attendees to fight like soldiers during the January 6th Stop The Steal Rally.
Bottom line is Stacy Garrity isn’t a moderate alternative — she has a long history of repeating the same extreme agenda that Pennsylvanians already rejected in 2022.
