Donald Trump’s love of conspiracy theories took its darkest turn yesterday when he suggested that President Obama was somehow complicit in the Orlando terrorist attacks. Tonight, when Trump speaks in North Carolina, he will likely repeat his unfounded and vile belief. Will Senator Richard Burr stand up to condemn Trump’s comments?
Senator Burr bought his ticket for the Trump train as early as August of last year. Since then, he’s been as unwavering in his support as Trump has been erratic in his foreign policy plans.
So no, Burr’s craven politics will once again win out over what’s right and decent. After all, if he stood up to the presumptive GOP nominee, he might lose his chance at a spot on the Trump ticket.
