“We’re going to build the wall” has been his go-to refrain for months; it’s an omnipresent chant at his and his running mate’s campaign events, and similarly echoed by their surrogates on TV and in newsprint.

On Tuesday, Trump confirmed he would “build a great wall” and his senior communications adviser made it explicitly clear that Trump remains committed to a physical wall, nothing less: “[T]here will be a physical wall…nothing has changed with Mr. Trump’s stance.” And just this morning, Mike Pence said Trump “hasn’t wavered for a minute” on the border wall.
