Today, Vice President JD Vance is visiting West Pittston, PA, in Rob Bresnahan’s district, where he will likely continue spreading lies about the crumbling Trump economy, their joint attacks on health care access for Pennsylvanians, and their obsequious pandering to the ultra-rich and their own bank accounts at the expense of working class Americans.
Bresnahan, a golden boy of the MAGA Republican movement, has close ties with the Trump administration — which has gone so far as to call him a “trustworthy ally” in their mission to threaten the health care of the 203,200+ Pennsylvanians in his district that rely on Pennsylvania’s Medicaid/Medical Assistance. Bresnahan had previously said that he would vote “no” on any bill that cuts life-saving programs like Medicaid and SNAP, but broke that promise immediately.
Bresnahan has also told Pennsylvania small business owners concerned about Trump’s tariffs to “rip the Band-Aid off” and “persevere,” and that he was “very excited” about the tariff tax that Pennsylvanians have been concerned about all across his district. Trump’s ever-changing, chaotic tariff rollout could cost Pennsylvania $5.3 million.
Vance and Bresnahan are alike in more ways than their penchant for cutting health care in order to pay for billionaires to squirrel away even more wealth. They both called to end congressional stock trading, but made hundreds of thousands of dollars trading stocks during their time in office. Vance sold off up to $100,000 in stocks during his first ten months in the U.S. Senate, while Bresnahan has “emerged as one of the most active stock traders in the freshman class,” selling off up to $3 million since taking office in January.
“Out-of-touch millionaire Rob Bresnahan has left a string of broken promises behind him, and it’s going to be a major problem for his re-election chances next year,” said Alexandra De Luca, spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century. “Cosplaying as someone who cares about the people he was elected to represent isn’t going to win him any brownie points with the voters he has screwed over. Since the minute he set foot in Washington, D.C., Breshanan and his allies in the Trump administration have had one goal in mind: get richer at the expense of the working class.”
