Here are Trump's "few" (many) exceptions to Russian money

May 12, 2017

Until Donald Trump releases his tax returns, it’s safe to assume that anything he says about Russian money flowing through his bank accounts is another lie about this exploding scandal.

For starters, Trump and his two sons running the Trump Organization have admitted they rely on Russian money:

  • Donald Trump: “I’ve done a lot of business with the Russians.”
  • Don Trump Jr: “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”
  • Eric Trump: “Well, we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.”

The Trump kids were more honest about their family’s ties to Russia than Trump’s newly-released certified letter. Even Trump’s new letter, though, points to “few exceptions” where Trump took Russian money.

“Donald Trump is a liar,” said Shripal Shah, Vice President of American Bridge.

While it’s impossible to know the extent of Russian money padding the profits of Donald Trump’s personal businesses without Trump’s tax returns, there’s a long paper trail of the Trump family — led by Donald himself — seeking Russian money, which could easily have ties back to Putin and the Russian government.
