This F*cking Guy Blamed the FBI for One of the Deadliest School Shootings in History

Feb 18, 2024

Six years ago today, Donald Trump blamed the FBI for the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 people.

In the wake of one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history, Trump didn’t stand with Parkland survivors and other young Floridians rallying against gun manufacturers and demanding common-sense gun safety laws. Instead, he tweeted just hours after the rally suggesting the FBI was “spending too much time” investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.

On the 2024 campaign trail, Trump brags about his lack of progress on gun safety. Just hours after the shooting following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, Trump touted his lack of progress on gun safety legislation as president. Trump told supporters in South Carolina, “During that four-year period, nothing happened with our Second Amendment.

The previous week, while speaking to thousands of National Rifle Association members at a Pennsylvania conference, Trump told the crowd, “During my four years, nothing happened — and there was great pressure on me having to do with guns. We did nothing. We didn’t yield.

Just 36 hours after an Iowa school shooting that ultimately resulted in two deaths and 11 injuries, Trump told Iowans it was time to “get over” the tragic shooting.

American Bridge 21st Century Presidential Campaigns Communications Director, Brandon Weathersby, released the following statement on the anniversary of Trump’s statement:

“After one of the most horrific school shootings in the history of the country, Donald Trump didn’t support Florida youth, and millions around the country, who were demanding stronger gun safety laws. Trump made the situation about himself and blamed law enforcement for the fatal shooting. Trump’s history of consistently vile remarks in the wake of deadly mass shootings shows he has zero empathy for others and no desire to make communities across the country safer. Trump will side with the gun lobbyists who help fill campaign coffers in exchange for blocking any and all common-sense gun violence prevention legislation.”
