The Tampa Bay Times today wrote a scathing editorial imploring the Senate, including home-state also-ran presidential candidate and absentee Senator Marco Rubio, to hold hearings and an up-or-down vote on President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court. Rubio seems to think President Obama shouldn’t be able to carry out his constitutional obligation to put forth a Supreme Court nominee because he says second-term presidents aren’t “completely unaccountable.”
Well, Rubio is “unaccountable” now, too. Is that why he keeps skipping votes? Either way, he’s cast his lot with the Senate’s Republican obstructionists — and he’s actively discouraging them from fulfilling their constitutional obligations.
