Trump Administration Betrays Women, Veterans, and American Families by Backtracking on Reproductive Health Promises
Donald Trump’s war on reproductive health is back as his administration breaks promise after promise made to women and families on the campaign trail.
On Friday, Trump’s Department of Veterans Affairs filed a federal rule change to roll back abortion access for veterans, including in cases of rape, incest, or when the veteran’s health was at risk due to the pregnancy.
Over the weekend, it was reported that the White House plans to break Trump’s promise to mandate insurance companies cover or subsidize IVF procedures for couples looking to start a family.
“Trump must have meant to call himself the fertilizer president, because he’s clearly full of shit when it comes to putting families first. In his first few months in office, he signed a spending bill that raises the cost of health care and guts support for reproductive care. Now, he plans to break another promise by walking away from his commitment to IVF and ripping abortion access away from veterans who’ve served and sacrificed for this country,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Women and families trusted him to protect reproductive care. Instead, he’s breaking promises, breaking systems, and breaking futures. There’s no defense for it. It’s a disgrace, and it proves Trump will always put politics over people, no matter the cost.”
