This week reaffirmed why the American people deserve a 9/11 style independent commission investigating the growing scandal surrounding Donald Trump, his aides and Russian officials. Just this week we learned:
- Carter Page admitted he was in touch with Russian agents;
- Carter Page couldn’t say with certainty that he didn’t talk with Russian officials about sanctions;
- Devin Nunes lied about intelligence reports;
- Manafort’s firm was outted for receiving secret payments for his work for a pro-Putin ally;
- Manafort then registered as a foreign agent;
- Rex Tillerson lacks the courage to hold Russia accountable for their complicity in Syria
- Roger Stone claimed Julian Assange isn’t a Russian asset despite the CIA Director announcing that Wikileaks is as “hostile intelligence service”
“Seriously. This all happened in one week. It’s day 85 of the Trump administration and their web of ties to hostile Russians only grows by the day. We need accountability, transparency and impartiality that only an independent commission can provide to finally get to the bottom of this scandal. If Trump really has nothing to hide as he claims, he ought to welcome a fully independent investigation to prove it,” said American Bridge spokesperson Sabrina Singh.
