RFK Jr. thinks Donald Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize for Operation Warp Speed, which quickly developed the COVID-19 vaccine. RFK Jr. also thinks the COVID-19 vaccine did more harm than good, and is actively working to prevent Americans from receiving protection from the disease.
RFK Jr. spent years mocking and attacking Operation Warp Speed:
- In 2020, RFK Jr. called out Trump for hiring a former pharmaceutical executive who “helped misrepresent scientific data” on drug safety to run Operation Warp Speed.
- In 2023, RFK Jr. said Trump reneged on his promise to “drain the swamp,” citing the example of Trump’s Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, whom RFK Jr. said “came in there, did an $88 billion gift of Operation Warp Speed for Pfizer and then left to join Pfizer’s board.”
- In 2023, RFK Jr. said, “The Trump administration that gave us Operation Warp Speed, forced masking, social distancing, and the Biden administration continued it.”
- In 2023, RFK Jr. said, “Trump gave us Warp Speed, Trump gave us the lockdowns, Trump locked down 3.3 million businesses,” which, he said, “shifted everything to Amazon, which was censoring criticism of the lockdowns.”
- In 2024, RFK Jr. said, “President Trump’s beloved Operation Warp Speed shut down jury trials for any corporation that was involved in COVID countermeasures,” and accused Trump of violating the Constitution.
- In 2024, RFK Jr.’s presidential campaign sold a T-shirt saying, “Vote for Trump/Fauci 2024” and “Give Us Another Shot!” In a sarcastic tweet to Trump, RFK Jr. said the shirt was a “tribute to Operation Warp Speed, which you have described as your greatest achievement.”
RFK Jr. has a long history of attacking the COVID-19 vaccine and spreading lies about its effectiveness and the safety of vaccines:
- Under RFK Jr.’s leadership, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced it would no longer recommend COVID-19 vaccinations for healthy children and pregnant women, citing concerns over safety and efficacy.
- RFK Jr. falsely claimed that vaccines cause autism, cancer, allergies, and autoimmune diseases.
- RFK Jr. lied that vaccines are not safety-tested and that the Spanish flu originated from a vaccine research program.
- RFK Jr. and his anti-vaccine nonprofit specifically targeted Black communities to push their anti-COVID vaccine agenda.
“We know that RFK Jr. needs to play to Donald Trump’s ego to keep his job, but he can’t have it both ways. You don’t get to cheer a life-saving program because it makes your boss happy and then actively work to undermine it,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “RFK Jr. is confusing Americans with misinformation that puts communities at risk. It’s time to call out this hypocrisy for what it is: a dangerous game with real-world consequences for public health.”
