As House Republicans voted today to repeal Dodd Frank in the House Financial Services Committee, setting up a vote in the full House of Representatives, American Bridge Vice President Shripal Shah released the following statement:
“As if ripping away healthcare from millions of Americans wasn’t bad enough, Republicans are simultaneously voting to scrap critical consumer protections so greed and recklessness can run wild on Wall Street again. Repealing Dodd Frank is a punch in the gut to the middle class Americans who are currently protected by safeguards put in place after the last financial crisis in order to prevent the next one. Republicans aren’t draining the swamp, they are flooding it — with former Wall Street executives and lobbyists calling the shots from the Trump Administration.”
