REMINDER: Wisconsin GOP Senator Ron Johnson is pro-outsourcing

Nov 30, 2021

As President Joe Biden and the congressional Democrats move closer to passing the Build Back Better Act, which will create millions of jobs and lower families’ costs for health care, child care, and prescription drugs, here’s a reminder: Wisconsin GOP U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson last year endorsed the outsourcing of American manufacturing jobs, praising it as “economically efficient” for goods to be produced overseas for “dirt cheap.”

Given that context, it’s unsurprising that Johnson is opposed to the Build Back Better Act and the bipartisan infrastructure bill that are expected to create good-paying American jobs and revitalize manufacturing.

Ron Johnson opposes those plans for the same reason that he sided with China this summer, when trying to block and delay a bipartisan bill to boost domestic research and manufacturing — particularly in the semiconductor industry.

If there’s one thing Ron Johnson’s proven during his time in Congress, it’s that he can’t be trusted to stand up for Wisconsin families — because he’ll always put partisan politics and his corporate backers first

Here are some of the investments in Wisconsin and American workers opposed by outsourcing enthusiast Ron Johnson in the bipartisan infrastructure deal:

  • $5.2 billion for highways and $225 million for bridge replacement and repairs in Wisconsin.
  • $593 million for Wisconsin public transportation.
  • $100 million for reliable high-speed internet access in Wisconsin.
  • $38 million for infrastructure resilience in Wisconsin.
  • $841 million to ensure clean and safe drinking water across Wisconsin.
