Donald Trump is putting millions of Americans at risk of missing critical benefit payments by cutting off paper checks for Social Security and other federal disbursements. Millions of seniors, people with disabilities, immigrants, and people without bank accounts are at risk of being left behind in Trump’s push to go digital.
For seniors, veterans, and families already struggling with rising costs, a missed payment isn’t an inconvenience; it’s the difference between paying rent, keeping the lights on, or filling a prescription.
Instead of protecting the most vulnerable, Trump is pushing a plan that values efficiency over survival. The consequences are real: seniors could go without groceries, disabled veterans could fall behind on utility bills, and single parents juggling rent, prescriptions, and groceries could be devastated by a missed benefit payment.
“A president should make sure that seniors can eat, veterans can keep the lights on, and families can pay rent – especially when they campaigned on those very promises. Instead, Donald Trump is pulling the rug out from under some of the most vulnerable people in the country in his betrayal of the working class,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “The consequences are real and voters won’t forget who did this when they head to the ballot box to hold the GOP accountable.”
