Tonight, Mike Collins and Buddy Carter once again chose Washington politics over Georgia families, voting to block action on price-hiking tariffs.
At a moment when tariffs are squeezing Georgia farmers, driving up prices, and devastating small businesses across the state, Collins and Carter made clear that partisan games in D.C. matter more to them than the livelihoods of Georgians.
“Georgians have had enough of business as usual,” said American Bridge spokesperson Danny Abbas. “Instead of standing up for Georgia, Mike Collins and Buddy Carter fell in line with Washington insiders. The message couldn’t be clearer, and it’s Georgia families who are paying the price.”
Read more about Collins’ and Carter’s support of price-hiking tariffs:
Buddy Carter:
- downplayed the uncertainty from tariffs as simply “minor impacts.”
- said that Georgians should tolerate “temporary pain” from tariffs.
- In May 2025, Carter said that the tariffs won’t “last long.”
Mike Collins:
- said tariffs were “fair” and would lower prices for Georgians.
- said tariffs will get the country to “hum like a sewing machine.”
- said tariffs would “help” folks across the country.
