Michael Whatley barely shows his face in North Carolina, but he has no problem backing devastating cuts that are hurting the very people he claims to want to represent.
From health care to disaster relief, Whatley has made one thing clear: if North Carolinians are suffering, he’s not interested in helping. Whether it’s ignoring hurricane victims or cheering on brutal budget cuts, Whatley’s loyalty is to MAGA, not North Carolina.
This is the same toxic agenda that helped push Thom Tillis into retirement. And Whatley wants more of it.
Here’s what Whatley is backing for North Carolina:
- $32 billion lost Medicaid funding over the next decade, putting 650,000 North Carolinians at risk of losing health coverage.
- Hundreds of millions cut from disease prevention, education, and other essential programs.
And he’s not just okay with it – he’s excited about it:
- Whatley claimed he would vote for the Big Ugly Law to make cuts to Medicaid “in a heartbeat” and planned to campaign on it.
- Praised DOGE for its cuts and said it was “absolutely critical” that it continue.
“When Michael Whatley isn’t in DC, he’s somewhere not in North Carolina, rooting for its downfall,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado. “He’s made it clear: he’s not here to help families, protect health care, or stand up for his state. He’s here to push an agenda that hurts the people of North Carolina – and he’s proud of it.”
