Discussing Alabama’s highly-restrictive 6-week abortion ban in 2019, Oz “denounced the idea as dangerous, unfair to women, and premised on misleading information”
A new report from the Daily Beast highlights that Mehmet Oz — now campaigning on outlawing abortion and overturning Roe v. Wade — has previously “denounced the idea” of a highly-restrictive law outlawing virtually all abortions “as dangerous, unfair to women, and premised on misleading information.”
Oz last week confirmed in an interview that he supports banning abortion and indicated that he backs the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade if they believe it’s “the right decision based on what they think the Constitution says.”
That’s a far cry from what Oz told The Breakfast Club about his views on Alabama’s highly-restrictive and near-total abortion ban in 2019.
And it’s the second time in the 7 days since Oz has launched his campaign that he has been caught espousing political rhetoric that is contradicted by his past words or actions. Last week, Salon reported that while Oz has emphasized supporting domestic manufacturing economies on the campaign trail, he hawks licensed products that are produced overseas.
