Karl Rove Launches $1 Million Ad Buy To Rescue Vulnerable Sen. Toomey

Feb 29, 2016

Special interests backing Pat Toomey are spending big to rescue the vulnerable senator’s re-election efforts.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that One Nation “is launching a $1 million ad buy in Pennsylvania’s Senate race, hoping to boost Republican Sen. Pat Toomey with one of the first major television buys of the campaign.”

One Nation is backed by Karl Rove and run by Crossroads GPS. The organization has one purpose: save Republican senators facing contentious campaigns. Already this cycle, the group has “spent millions of dollars backing other Republicans in 2016 Senate races, including Sens. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Rob Portman of Ohio, and Richard Shelby of Alabama, as well as Rep. Joe Heck, who’s running for the open Senate seat in Nevada.”

Toomey’s repeated obstruction of justice and refusal to do his job as well as his highly partisan voting record put him at risk going into November. It’s no surprise that Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, and other dark money special interests are already spending big to save Toomey. They want to protect him because Toomey has always protected billionaires and corporate interests over the Keystone State.
