Election-Denying Marchant Is the Republican Nominee for Nevada Secretary of State

Aug 29, 2022

This week, Jim Marchant, a key proponent of 2020 election lies and conspiracy theories, won the Nevada Republican primary for Secretary of State. Marchant has said that he would not have certified President Biden’s election win in Nevada.

Despite claiming that all Nevada election winners since 2006 were “installed by the deep-state cabal,” Marchant proudly celebrated his own victory as legitimate.

“Marchant’s win follows a dangerous trend of Trump-inspired election deniers winning Republican contests who pose a threat to the integrity of our democracy,” said Dallas Prater, spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century. “There are more than 100 election-denying Republicans who have secured nominations or advanced to runoffs in Republican-leaning districts or states. Although victory is not assured, it is clear these baseless claims of rampant voter fraud have found a base. It’s our job to stop them.”

In November, Marchant will face Democratic nominee Cisco Aguilar.
