Trump’s ally Kevin McCarthy made history today by losing a fifth vote for Speaker of the House. Trump waited until the eleventh hour to endorse his loyal political ally. Even after Trump called for all Republicans to back McCarthy, the California Republican went on to lose an additional vote. This historic series of losses comes roughly a month after an embarrassing midterm election where Trump’s chosen candidates faced defeat in elections across the country.
“Kevin McCarthy is finding out in real time that Trump’s endorsement is about as worthless as the former president’s NFT collection,” said American Bridge Spokesperson Drew Godinich. “We can now add Kevin to the long list of MAGA Republicans Trump failed to get across the finish line.”
