American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement after the White House announced they fired FBI Director James Comey:
“Firing James Comey won’t make Trump’s Russia scandal go away, and replacing him with a partisan hack as Trump is likely to do will jeopardize the agency’s integrity. No one should believe that a Trump appointee running the FBI will be able to work independent of political considerations and influence.”
“Comey’s firing only further demonstrates the need for a truly independent commission investigating Donald Trump’s potential ties to Russian hackers who rigged the election in his favor. Nothing short of that will be sufficient.”
