2020 GOP Senators will own any damage to the ACA

Mar 26, 2019

Republicans still haven’t learned their lesson from 2018
The Trump administration’s announcement last night — that it will back a court ruling invalidating the entirety of the Affordable Care Act — won’t just be an issue for President Trump in 2020.

That’s because the lower court ruling against the ACA is a direct result of the Republican Tax Scam’s provision repealing the individual mandate — a law each and every Republican Senator up for reelection in 2020 voted for.

That means Susan Collins, Cory Gardner, Thom Tillis, Joni Ernst, Martha McSally, and David Perdue can all claim responsibility for an ongoing court case that could destroy American healthcare for millions: Americans with pre-existing conditions, women, beneficiaries of Medicaid expansion, you name it.

But that’s not all. If this case reaches the Supreme Court, newly-minted Justice Brett Kavanaugh may very well rule against the ACA. Which means Republicans who voted for him will further own any damage done to the healthcare law.

“Voters aren’t dumb. When they’re hit with the consequences of this Administration’s reckless actions, they’re going to know full well that Republicans are entirely to blame,” said American Bridge spokesperson Amelia Penniman. “Every Republican Senator facing voters next year should brace themselves, they’re going to be held accountable.”
