The funding freeze will “not disrupt school and child care funding, health care for seniors or low-income families…” — Rep. Tom Barrett
17 Head Start schools in Michigan closed their doors for a day, despite Barrett claiming the GOP’s funding freeze would “not disrupt school and child care funding, health care for seniors or low-income families…” Now, in Kent County, Head Start programs are still experiencing funding delays, which could lead to schools that serve 1,200 kids and employ 400 staff closing.
“If Rep. Tom Barrett can’t even deliver the basic facts to Michiganders then there’s no way he can properly represent them in Washington,” said American Bridge spokesperson Philip Shulman. “The Republican Party’s funding freeze is still causing problems and preschools in Michigan are facing threatening cuts — is Tom Barrett going to deceive his district and his state again or is he actually going to do his job?”
