The GOP presidential primary was never about hope and optimism. For months, candidates like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have thrived on negativity and end-of-days hyperbole.
In the last several weeks, things have only gotten darker. Chasing Trump, the entire GOP field has gone extremely negative. Replete with doom-and-gloom fear-mongering, negative personal attacks, xenophobic rhetoric, and neo-con “carpet bomb” posturing, the GOP primary is officially a “fear-fest”:
