In Ted Cruz’s latest — and arguably most abhorrent — appeal to Donald Trump voters, he today proposed that “Muslim neighborhoods” be turned into “police states.”
“We need to empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized,” Cruz said in a statement, shamelessly trying to tap into the hatred and xenophobia that have propelled Donald Trump to his significant delegate lead.
This is Ted Cruz’s most desperate and despicable Party of Trump proposal since he last month pledged to create a mass-deportation force tasked with searching for and forcibly deporting the over 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.
Now, Cruz is calling for preemptive “law enforcement” control of American neighborhoods. This is a new low.
Ted Cruz has continued to embrace hateful rhetoric and policies as repugnant as those of Donald Trump — and it’s now clear he is every bit the demagogic, fear-mongering bigot that is the Republican front-runner. We’d say this has got to be rock-bottom for the Party of Trump, but odds are Cruz and Trump are just getting started.
