Reports From The American Front Line:

Trump’s War Is Crushing Farm Families and Hiking Prices at the Grocery Store

Mar 20, 2026

American Bridge 21st Century’s latest Reports From The American Front Line (RFTAFL) video highlights the catastrophic economic damage Trump’s conflict with Iran is having on America’s heartland. As fertilizer prices spike to alarming levels, farmers fear for the future of their livelihoods, and families already stretched thin face even higher grocery bills.

Natural gas, a key ingredient in the production of nitrogen fertilizer, has surged in price since the conflict escalated, sending the cost of the fertilizers American farmers depend on to grow corn, wheat, and soybeans skyrocketing across the Heartland and the South. Farmers heading into planting season are now facing input costs they cannot absorb, forcing impossible choices like cutting back on fertilizer applications, taking on more debt, or walking away from crops entirely.

Grocery bills don’t go down when farmers can’t afford to grow. For families already struggling after a year of paying Trump’s tariff tax, a war that pushes prices even higher couldn’t come at a worse time. The math is simple, and working families across the country are about to feel it.

“Trump promised American farmers he had their backs. He promised working families relief from high prices. He has delivered neither. From corn farmers in Indiana watching their input costs climb before a single seed is planted, to families in Wisconsin already rationing grocery trips, the human cost of this crisis is real, immediate, and entirely preventable,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Instead, his reckless warmongering is triggering crisis after crisis both at home and abroad, and the cost will be passed on to every family trying to put food on the table. Americans are exhausted from the Trump economy, which only works for the richest people in the country, while they struggle to pay the bills, and this president keeps making it worse.”
