Millionaire Ron Johnson Votes Against COVID Relief for Wisconsin Families

Feb 02, 2021

Just now on the Senate floor, millionaire politician Ron Johnson voted against a budget framework that will lead to much needed COVID-19 relief for Wisconsin families. While Johnson pointed to bureaucratic procedural reasons as to why he voted against helping his constituents, Johnson had no problems using the same procedures to pass tax cuts for millionaires like himself. New polling shows more than 2/3rds of Americans support President Biden’s COVID-19 relief plan.

Among the things Ron Johnson voted against in today’s budget resolution:

  • $1,400 per-person checks.
  • $400 more a week in unemployment insurance.
  • $350 billion in state and local aid.

“Ron Johnson is one of the richest members of Congress and has no problem handing out tax cuts for millionaires like himself, but when it comes to helping his constituents who lost their jobs, he tells them to take a hike,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Zach Hudson. “Wisconsin families are out of work because of the pandemic Republicans bungled, and now Ron Johnson is trying to make the pandemic worse by denying his constituents the relief they desperately need.”
