It’s Been A 24 Hour Dumpster Fire In Trump's Administration But POTUS Can’t Stop Whining About Crowd Sizes

Jan 26, 2017

The past 24 hours have been a disaster for the Trump Administration but the President can’t stop whining about crowd sizes. Ahead of his address to congressional Republicans this afternoon, American Bridge today presents an overview of the disastrous last 24 hours with a call for the President to finally prioritize doing his job – and stop lying, whining, and operating with no regard for the law.

In just one day, the White House managed to threaten our national security, freedom of speech, and immigrants and refugees from around the world, while President Trump continues to profit off of the presidency by refusing to divest from his businesses. Those are the facts, and there is no disputing them.

Yesterday was a serious day that will have lasting consequences for our country and our standing in the world. The American people can’t afford more days like it riddled with scandal, reckless and potentially unconstitutional policies, and lies.

Washington Post: Trump’s impending bans on refugees and immigrants triggers fears globally: “A Trump administration draft executive order to start vetting potential immigrants and visitors, as well as institute bans on refugees seeking to resettle in the United States, will shatter countless dreams and divide families, according to would-be immigrants and human rights activists.”

CNN: Trump orders construction of border wall, boosts deportation force: “Trump also outlined new criteria for determining which undocumented immigrants should be prioritized for deportation, putting hundreds of thousands and perhaps millions more people at the top of the federal government’s list of people to deport.”

NYDN: Mexican president defies Donald Trump, asserts ‘Mexico will not pay for any wall’: “Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto on Wednesday night doubled down on his pledge to not pay for a border wall — just hours after President Trump claimed that Mexico will “100%” reimburse the cost of a barrier between the two countries.”

New York Times: Trump Poised to Lift Ban on C.I.A. ‘Black Site’ Prisons“The Trump administration is preparing a sweeping executive order that would clear the way for the C.I.A. to reopen overseas “black site” prisons, like those where it detained and tortured terrorism suspects before former President Barack Obama shut them down.”

Washington Post: Trump seeks ‘major investigation’ into unsupported claims of voter fraud“President Trump plans to ask for a “major investigation” into allegations of widespread voter fraud as he continues to claim, without providing evidence, that he lost the popular vote in November’s election because millions of illegal votes were cast, according to tweets posted Wednesday.”

New York Times: That Old Phone Trump Uses for Twitter Could Be an Opening to Security Threats“Mr. Trump has been using his old, unsecured Android phone to post on Twitter since moving to Washington late last week. The president’s desire to use his old, personal smartphone raises concerns that its use could be exposing him and the nation to security threats.”

Huffington Post: Read Draft Text Of Trump’s Executive Order Limiting Muslim Entry To The U.S. (EXCLUSIVE): “But the focus is still on Muslims. The executive order says that priority will be given in the future to refugees who face religious persecution, “provided that the religion of the individual is a minority religion in the individual’s country of nationality.” In other words, an exception will be made for non-Muslims in the Middle East, which undercuts the argument that the policy does not target Muslims specifically.”

Newsweek: Trump White House Senior Staff Have Private RNC Email Accounts: “But after then-candidate Donald Trump and the Republicans repeatedly called for “locking up” Hillary Clinton for handling government work with a private server while secretary of state, the new White House staff risks repeating the same mistake that dogged the Democrat’s presidential campaign. They also face a security challenge: The RNC email system, according to U.S. intelligence, was hacked during the 2016 race.”

CNBC: Mar-a-Lago membership fee doubles to $200,000: “Mar-a-Lago, the Palm Beach resort owned by the Trump Organization, doubled its initiation fee to $200,000 following the election of Donald Trump as president.”
