Talking to prospective special interest donors behind closed doors, Senator Dean Heller yesterday made it very clear how little he respects the Nevadans who elected him.
At a paid-admission luncheon, Heller dismissed the importance of meeting with his constituents — something he hasn’t done at a public event for 3 months, 9 days — and going on 22 hours. To laughter, Heller confessed to the business leaders that he’s finally decided to meet voters face to face with a town hall next Monday, quipping that it’s just “one of the boxes you have to check.”
Heller explained why he’s teaming up with his buddy Rep. Mark Amodei: “Because [Amodei] will do all the talking.”
American Bridge President Jessica Mackler made the following statement:“Heller is either full-on scared to face the people who elected him, or he’s completely disinterested in their concerns. It’s hard to say which is worse, and there’s a good chance both are true. Nevadans deserve a Senator who sees meeting his or her constituents as a privilege — not another “box” to be checked — and Dean Heller doesn’t fit the bill.”
