Ashley Hinson Votes Against Iowans’ Health Care Again

Jan 08, 2026

Ashley Hinson once again voted against extending the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits, blocking a bipartisan three-year extension that helps working families afford health coverage. This is just one of her many votes siding with Washington Republicans over Iowa families.

Hinson’s opposition is allowing premiums to skyrocket for roughly 150,000 Iowans, forcing families, seniors, and farmers to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars more each year just to keep their health insurance.

“With this vote, Hinson reaffirmed that she is perfectly fine with higher health care costs and more uninsured Iowans,” said American Bridge spokesman Danny Abbas. “At the same time when families are being squeezed by high prices, Ashley Hinson chose party politics over the health and financial security of 150,000 Iowans, and voters won’t forget it at the ballot box.”

Read more about Hinson’s disastrous record:

  • Despite already voting to cut Medicaid, Hinson called for deeper cuts.
  • When touting her vote to slash Medicaid, she was met with a chorus of boos from Iowans.
  • Hinson opposed the Affordable Care Act, which provided healthcare to over 136,000 Iowans.
