American Bridge Vice President Shripal Shah released the following statement after the Washington Post reported Donald Trump leaked classified information to Russian officials last week at the White House:
“Trump’s leaking of highly classified information to the Russians – just hours after firing the FBI Director who was investigating his campaign’s ties to Russia – is absolutely terrifying for a million reasons. But equally terrifying is that Republicans are once again already finding a way to normalize his behavior. There’s only one explanation for that type of reaction, and that’s that the Republican Party is now run by spineless hypocrites who only care about partisan loyalties, even at the expense of our country and national security interests.
“It’s long past time for every Republican official to finally open their eyes and realize the unprecedented dangers Trump represents. And since they won’t, they shouldn’t be surprised when every single one of them is held accountable by the public for their complicity.”
