Ahead of Rep. Tom Price’s second nomination hearing before the Senate Finance Committee today, American Bridge President Jessica Mackler released the following statement:
“Last week’s Senate grilling of Tom Price proved that Republicans have no plan to replace the Affordable Care Act, even as Price admitted health care coverage has improved as a result of the ACA. He couldn’t answer definitively that Donald Trump wouldn’t cut Medicare benefits and wants to prioritize taking away Medicaid benefits.
“Heading into his second hearing, the American people deserve to get a full accounting of Price’s potentially illegal stock purchases. We already know Price has a record of using his Congressional office to help companies in which he owned stock and took campaign contributions as a thank you. The question now facing Price is whether he broke the law.
“All in all, you can be sure that Trump and Price will look for every opportunity to sell out American workers and weaken Americans’ health care.”
