American Bridge 21st Century Announces Two New Virginia Ads

Jul 08, 2021

Right Track’ and ‘Hope’ Highlight Impact of American Rescue Plan on VA Small Businesses

Today, American Bridge 21st Century released two new ads highlighting the American Rescue Plan’s success providing support for small businesses and working Virginia women while helping the commonwealth’s economy recover from the pandemic. Both ads feature Richmond-area small business owners telling the story of how their businesses and communities have been helped by President Biden’s American Rescue Plan.

The ads are part of a seven-figure program targeting suburban women in Virginia in 2021 and the latest in American Bridge 21st Century’s $100 million midterm campaign to communicate President Biden’s successes directly to voters in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia.

“Women delivered the House to Democrats in the 2018 midterms and are the key to holding and growing our majorities in 2022,” said American Bridge 21st Century co-chair Cecile Richards. “President Biden and the American Rescue Plan put small business owners like Lauren and Thea first, providing much-needed relief for their families, businesses, and communities. American Bridge 21st Century will continue to elevate their voices, share the success stories President Biden’s leadership has made possible, and ensure that the diverse group of suburban women who will decide the 2022 midterms know that Democrats are fighting for them.”

“Once Biden got into office there was lots of legislation passed to help small businesses,” said Thea, owner of the Richmond toy store World of Mirth. “With the relief package, I didn’t have to worry about how I was going to pay my staff or how I was going to pay their health insurance. Joe Biden is for the people and of the people and cares about keeping Virginia and the country moving forward.”

“When I saw Biden’s rescue plan for small businesses I became excited,” said Lauren, owner of Cafe Synai in Richmond. “We have someone who cares. He’s helping the people that need it the most — the middle class. I’m excited about the future because people are coming in, people are smiling again. The rescue plan is getting the economy back on track. Help is here.”

The American Rescue Plan provides 5.1 million Virginia adults with $1,400 relief checks and expands the child tax credit to over 1.5 million families, raising 85,000 children out of poverty. The state will receive nearly $2.2 billion to help schools continue to reopen safely, over $7.3 billion for state and local governments, $419 million for childless workers, and health insurance premiums that are up to $1,500 less per month for older couples.
