Roe Anniversary Exposes Lombardo’s Far-Right Anti-Abortion Extremist Record

Jan 22, 2026

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, as Nevadans reflect on the loss of a fundamental constitutional right, Governor Joe Lombardo’s record makes it clear he cannot be trusted to defend reproductive freedom. Since the fall of Roe, Lombardo vetoed legislation to strengthen reproductive health protections, killed bipartisan IVF and fertility treatment safeguards, and sided with far-right anti-abortion extremists over Nevada families. Rather than defend abortion access, he has hidden behind existing law while extremists push nationwide rollbacks — putting women, providers, and families trying to conceive at risk.

Now that governors hold the power to protect or strip away reproductive freedom, one thing is clear: Joe Lombardo has repeatedly sided against reproductive rights and in favor of government control over personal medical decisions.

Since the fall of Roe, Joe Lombardo has:

  • Supported a 13-week abortion ban ballot initiative, saying he would evaluate abortion legislation through a “pro-life lens.”
  • Opposed protections for patients traveling to Nevada for abortion care, stating he would repeal an executive order that safeguarded out-of-state patients and providers from prosecution.
  • Supported a ban on emergency contraception,  the imposition of mandatory waiting periods, and a restriction of access to care for women facing urgent medical decisions.

“As Nevadan families are left reeling with the loss of a fundamental constitutional right to body autonomy, Joe Lombardo’s record makes it clear he won’t support them,” said Tiffiany Vaughn, a spokesperson at American Bridge 21st Century.“ At every turn, Lombardo has supported more restrictions, more barriers, and more government intrusion into deeply personal medical decisions.”

Lombardo’s record offers a clear warning: he has repeatedly chosen politics over patients and control over choice.
