Joni Ernst is spiraling and Iowans are noticing.
Over the weekend, Ernst responded to backlash over her callous comment to Iowans worried about the life-and-death impact of her Medicaid cuts – “Well, we’re all going to die.” – by filming a fake apology video in a cemetery. The tone-deaf video sparked major backlash as it was a deliberate mockery of the millions of Americans who rely on Medicaid to stay alive.
But this isn’t just about one gaffe:
- She was hesitant about Pete Hegseth for Senate – then backed him anyway.
- She called tariffs a tax on Iowans back in 2018 – but now gaslights farmers struggling under those same tariffs by pretending everything’s fine.
- And now, she’s joking about death while pushing brutal cuts to Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
“Ernst is in trouble and this time, no graveyard stunt can distract from the truth: she’s not on Iowans’ side, and voters are waking up to that. Whether it’s farmers being crushed by tariffs or families who rely on Medicaid, she’s made it clear: if you’re not a billionaire, she’s not fighting for you,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado. “Filming a stunt in a cemetery isn’t just political malpractice – it’s who she is. A soulless politician who laughs off Iowans’ suffering, then doubles down.”
