Georgia GOP Senate Candidates Vote Against Georgians’ Health Care Again

Jan 08, 2026

Georgia House Republicans Buddy Carter and Mike Collins once again voted against extending the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits, blocking a bipartisan three-year extension that helps working families afford health coverage. Failed football coach and GOP Senate candidate Derek Dooley has also come out against the tax credits, siding with Washington Republicans over Georgia families.

Their opposition is allowing premiums to skyrocket for roughly 1.5 million Georgians, forcing families, seniors, and small business owners to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars more each year just to keep their health insurance.

“With this vote, Georgia Republicans again made it clear that they’re just peachy with higher health care costs and more uninsured Georgians,” said American Bridge spokesman Danny Abbas. “At the same time when families are being squeezed by high prices, Buddy Carter, Mike Collins, and Derek Dooley chose party politics over the health and financial security of 1.5 million Georgians, and voters won’t forget it at the ballot box.”

Read more about Georgia’s GOP clown car’s disastrous record:

    • Carter was a “leader” in crafting legislation to cut health care for Georgians.
    • Carter repeatedly supported repealing the Affordable Care Act, which would decimate protections for pre-existing conditions
    • Dooley called the enhanced subsidies a “mess.”
    • Dooley has yet to propose any alternative to lower health care prices for Georgia families.
