New reporting from The Hill reveals Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz defended over $700 million in cuts to Medicaid by telling beneficiaries they needed to “prove that they matter” by getting an entry-level job.
It’s not the first time Oz has shown his disdain for Americans seeking affordable health care. In 2013, while speaking to the National Governors Association, Oz claimed Americans didn’t have a right to health care.
“Millions of Americans are about to lose coverage because extreme Republicans like Dr. Oz don’t think they matter,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Instead of protecting the health care of the most vulnerable people in the country, Trump and the GOP are focusing on who they think matters most: the millionaires and billionaires begging for huge tax breaks.”
