Biggs and Schweikert Vote Against Affordable Health Care for Arizonans

Jan 08, 2026

Andy Biggs and David Schweikert just voted against extending the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits, blocking a bipartisan extension that helps working families afford health coverage. Their votes side with Washington Republicans over Arizona families who rely on affordable health insurance. More than 400,000 Arizonans are already seeing their premiums rise this month, with some costs doubling.

By opposing the extension, Biggs and Schweikert are signaling they don’t care that premiums will continue to increase for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans who rely on the ACA marketplace, driving up costs for families, seniors, and small business owners by hundreds or even thousands of dollars each year.

“This vote makes clear that Andy Biggs and David Schweikert are comfortable making health care more expensive,” said Tiffiany Vaughn, spokesperson for American Bridge 21st Century. “They know what this is doing to Arizona families, and they continue to do it anyway.”

Their votes are consistent with long-standing Republican attacks on the Affordable Care Act. Schweikert alone has voted at least 18 times to repeal the ACA, and both lawmakers have repeatedly opposed efforts to strengthen coverage and lower health care costs for Arizona families.

Andy Biggs’ Health Care Record

David Schweikert on Health Care

  • Schweikert voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act at least 18 times
  • Schweikert called constituents’ fears of losing their health care because of the “Big Beautiful Bill” whining and the bedwetting.
  • Schweikert supports “more cuts” to Medicaid
  • Schweikert voted to overturn Obama’s veto of a bill that would repeal major portions of the Affordable Care Act.

Arizona families deserve a governor who will protect affordable health care, not a career politician who votes to make it more expensive.
