While Ashley Hinson campaigns for a promotion in front of half-empty rooms during a government shutdown, Iowans are stuck dealing with the brutal consequences of the cuts she proudly supports.
The GOP’s extreme budget cuts, which Hinson voted for and praised, are already doing real damage:
- Iowa is set to lose up to $14 billion in Medicaid funding over the next decade – which means 86,000 Iowans will lose coverage.
- 260,000 Iowans at risk of losing food assistance.
- Families could pay $350 more in energy bills.
- 338 jobs lost and 7 federal offices closed, making it harder for Iowans to access Social Security and essential services.
Hinson isn’t fighting to save jobs or get the health care funding back – she’s cheering on the cuts:
- Hinson voted for and praised the GOP’s health care cutting bill and wanted the cuts to go even deeper.
- Hinson praised DOGE’s cuts even though they impacted Iowa jobs and federal offices that Iowans relied on.
“Ashley Hinson isn’t just ignoring the pain these cuts are causing – she’s celebrating it,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Nico Delgado. “While Iowans watch costs rise and their health care get ripped away, Hinson is out campaigning for a promotion she hasn’t earned. She owns every bit of this.”
