Today’s jobs report confirms what working families already feel: Donald Trump’s economic policies are failing. Instead of delivering on promises of growth and prosperity, Trump’s agenda of tariff taxes for American families, tax cuts for billionaires, and sowing economic chaos has left Americans with fewer jobs, lower wages, and higher costs.
The numbers reveal a cooling labor market: hiring is sluggish, long-term unemployment remains high, and thousands are stuck in underemployment. While select sectors like health care continue expanding, many areas, including public-sector employment and manufacturing, are shrinking. Wage growth is modest, and broad economic recovery still feels out of reach.
It’s the latest evidence that Trump’s economic policies are making life worse for American families. Despite his promises to lower costs, Trump’s tariffs are driving up prices across the board, and families across the country are paying more for groceries, housing, and health care while jobs dry up.
But don’t expect honesty from Trump. Instead, he’ll gaslight the American people, insist the economy is great, and attack the Bureau of Labor Statistics for reporting the truth. He’s done it before, and he’ll do it again, because protecting his ego matters more than protecting American jobs.
“Trump promised to put workers first, but his policies are doing the opposite. Families are hurting, jobs are disappearing, and prices keep rising,” said American Bridge 21st Century spokesperson Brandon Weathersby. “Americans deserve better than an economy built on tariffs, excuses, and lies. They need jobs, stability, and leadership that actually gives a damn about their future.”
